Nightfall Red B is muted and darker, it’s useful for shadowed red areas, deep tones in fabrics, drapery, architecture, foliage highlights that lean warm, etc.

A muted, rich, deep red tone. The inclusion of black darkens it, making it less saturated / vivid in full strength than pure reds. This gives it a more somber or “shadowed” red character.
On cold-pressed or rough / textured paper — granulation is more pronounced, giving a rustic, organic look.
On smooth / hot-pressed paper — the texture is more controlled; fewer granulating “pools,” more even gradations.
Good for glazing — a thin wash over lighter colours can add warmth or red tone without overwhelming. Multiple thin layers will preserve granulation more than one thick layer.

It lightens but also reveals subtle texture. Granulation becomes visible; pigment particles may settle slightly, creating mottling or varied tone rather than uniform flat red.
