This set is part of Holbein’s Luminous or fluorescent line — the colors are vibrant and appear to “glow” on both light and dark papers
The paint is made without ox-gall (an animal-derived wetting agent) or other dispersants.
This gives more control to the artist in how the pigment spreads / disperses.
The tubes use high-grade pigments with gum arabic as the binding medium. The pigments are finely ground using triple-roll mills.
The watercolor is designed to rewet instantly, meaning that even after drying, the paint can be reactivated with water — a desirable quality in watercolors.
No extra dispersing additives, the paint moves more slowly on the paper, giving better control over edges, blending, and fine detail.
Being fluorescent, these luminous colors generally have a lower lightfast rating, so exposure to direct sunlight over long periods can diminish their vibrancy.
